The Down Low

Beatrice grew up in Miami, is of Haitian descent and speaks creole. She's been on the national stage since she was in highschool: She led Miami High to two state championships and won the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year twice (no word on the Croco-defen-dile Player of the Year award). Here is a somewhat-shady article about Bea as a high school player. It describes her weaknesses as lack of practice intensity and quickness to get irritated, but really it sounds like she simply had little actual competition, most of whom resorted to scratching to try to defend her. Anyway, I'm personally unconcerned about these "weaknesses."

After stellar high school and college campaigns, she is now a young talent in the league. Sun head coach Curt Miller calls her a "talented post player with a high ceiling” and a "crafty scorer." Many have compared her to a young Sylvia Fowles, but her favorite player is former Miami Heat star Chris Bosh.
