Ezi Magbegor

March 16, 2021

The Basics

Position: Center

Current Team: Seattle Storm | #13

Draft: 2019 | Australia | 1st round (12th overall)

Key Accolades: WNBA Champion (2020), Under-17 World Cup MVP (2016)

The Down Low

Ezi will make you feel old and lazy. Ezi, short for Ezidoya, has already accomplished the following:

  • FIBA Under-17 MVP (age 16)
  • Signed with a professional team in Australia (age 17)
  • WNBL Rookie of the Year (age 18)
  • Drafted to the WNBA (age 19)
  • WNBA Champion (age 21)

She's now the second-youngest player ever to be a WNBA champion. She turned 21 in the wubble, which she celebrated by painting and making s'mores with her teammates. If that weren't enough, she was going to college full time for clinical psychology at the same time and literally took final exams and played in the WNBA finals in the same week?!?

Although she's already accomplished, Ezi is soaking in lessons from the veteran talents around her. Before beginning in the WNBA, she sat down with fellow Australian and WNBA legend Lauren Jackson about adapting the league. She's also spoken frequently about what she's learned from the players around her, both as a player and using her platform as an athlete.

And the idea that Ezi is only getting better? That should terrify the rest of the league.

Notable Quotables

I’m a bit ambitious at the moment, so we’ll see if that works out.
