Those who have watched Sami clean up two championships with Seattle as a three-point sharpshooter off the bench and as a playmaker now with the New York Liberty, may be surprised to learn that Sami went undrafted and began her rookie year at 29. (I was.)

But Sami kept herself busy between her college graduation and WNBA debut. She spent most of that time in Australia, racking up just about every honor she could. She also met and married her wife, a fellow basketball player. They welcomed a daughter in 2020.
