The Down Low

The first time I ever went to a Chicago Sky game in Chicago, I almost became an Atlanta Dream fan. And it was because of Brittney Sykes (who started her career with the Dream). We sat on the baseline, where we could witness close-up Brittney's ridiculous athleticism as well as her hamming it up on the sidelines.

Slim's personality just pops, both on the court and off. Here's a brief selection of my favorite Brittney moments:

  • Serving as Te'a Cooper's bodyguard
  • Walking the runway with Seimone Augustus
  • Everything about this

Now on the Sparks, Brittney continues to show off her athletic prowess and has stated her intention to Defensive Player of the Year. She is well on her way. In 2020, she was named to the All-Defensive Second Team and somehow, at 5'9, hosted a season-long block party (see highlights below). She has also developed one of my favorite WNBA friendships, Garlic Salt and Sazón, with teammate Sydney Wiese.

It's just as impressive in action.

Know Your Meme

Because Slim said so:

A better version of this gif is available here for those interested in partaking.

Additionally, this may be the perfect self-use of a reaction photo, as Brittney continues to be shocked that y'all didn't know she was gay:
