      The Down Low

In college, Coach Dawn Staley referred to her as USC's "Superwoman": She is the most decorated women’s basketball player in South Carolina history, winning SEC Player of the Year twice and the Dawn Staley Award for best Division I point guard. It was also at USC when she became besties with A'ja Wilson, who gave her the nickname "Takeover Tiff." While Tiffany has not yet racked up the same number of awards in the WNBA, she is still always a threat to takeover with her smooth ball handling, speed, and athleticism. She's also always ready to have a good time.

Like her years being coached by former WNBA great Dawn Staley, she now has the guidance of another WNBA legend, Tamika Catchings, who is the GM of the Fever. Catchings has said of Mitchell:

When I think of Tiff I think of all the stuff that she's been able to succeed through. . . . She is somebody that you continue to see her step up through adversity and you continue to see her will, her will power and her will to be the best at what she does and her will to be able to focus and lock in when times are tough.

Tamika has also advised Tiffany off the court, when Tiffany asked her for advice about how to start a foundation. (Tamika Catchings won the 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission Freedom Award from the Indiana Civil Rights Commission for her work in her community.) With her guidance, Tiffany recently started a foundation, SPIN Haven, which supports single parents in her hometown of Charlotte, where she was raised by her mother.
